We arrived at the center and met an astronaut almost immediately. Now those costumes cost upwards of 400.000 dollars, is the important piece of imformation I learnt. My only doubt was, do they ever laundert them? And how exactly would that be done? The real live command center ffrom the 60s was a throwback to my parents' era. The IBM computers were all there and for a strange moment I thought, " This was before Microsoft existed...." It was spooky
Did anyone notice ever the count of days each set of astronauts stayed in space. No american team stayed for longer than 100 days and the Russian teams stayed for 300- 400 days apiece. Now, their living quarters werenet that inspriring and I wondered what the difference was due to... ( Feel free to come up with interesting possibilties)
Now when my son, who just turned eight saw the moon mission presentation where they do this blurb with kids who want to do " cool" things I asked my son if he thought any of this interested him..... and he said" Mommy I think I will work at the controls and not not choose to go in a ship. " I think I suppressed a smile and he saw it and clarified further." Its basically due to the risk involved..."
As I said before, I learn everyday.
Now, have any of you ever had a real "hair raising" experience? That day, while waiting at the jetty for the rocket launch that never happened, all our hair stood up straight. Now I mean hair on heads... straight up.... due to the static in the atmosphere...
Weird.
It was a crazy day.....
